Pentagon JEDI Cloud Contract $10 Billion Awarded to Microsoft

The US Government has awarded JEDI cloud contract to Microsoft for $10 billion. The US department of defense already has confirmed this deal & associated this contract with the name of Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JEDI). As per the JEDI or Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure contract the Microsoft will provide the Pentagon with cloud services for basic storage. It will also power all the way up to machine learning; artificial intelligence processing; and enhance mission critical workloads.

It’s a key contract for Microsoft Company as the company is in battle with Amazon for cloud dominance. This contract was up in air as to whether Amazon or Microsoft would win this important deal. The two big market players such as IBM and Oracle have already eliminated from the bidding processing in April-2019. Only Amazon and Microsoft companies could meet the JEDI contract requirements. The US Government contract has been controversial from the starting of bidding process. The Oracle also file a case again this contract and has lost a legal challenge after it claimed the contract has conflicts of interest.

Main clause of JEDI Cloud Contract

As per the main clause of JEDI Cloud contract, the Microsoft will provide more than 100,000 of the augmented reality headsets for combat and training of US defense department in 10 years.  It is a big win for Microsoft. As far as the employees of Microsoft are concerned, they are not happy on this deal. The Microsoft employees have already called on the company to drop its Hololens US Army Contract; but Microsoft is still honoring JEDI contract.
